Duluth, Mn, April 27th, 2013– Department of Art & Design at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites the public to two exciting events in April. Both events will be held on Saturday, April 27th, 2013 on the UMD campus and are free to the public.

1-5pm  Open Studio 2013

UMD’s Department of Art & Design opens it’s doors to the public to view student work and facilities from 1pm-5pm on Saturday April 27. The Open Studio event includes classroom tours, demonstrations, hands-on activities, live music, and showcases of graphic design and visual art. The open studios are located in Anderson Hall and Humanities Buildings at 1201 Ordean Court on the UMD campus. This is a great opportunity for future students, artists, and alumni to come see what’s happening in Art & Design at UMD.

Open Studio is an annual event created by the UMD Art Guild, a student organization at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Students display their artwork and give demonstrations of various art processes such as screen printing, wheel throwing, and digital image transfer. Live bands will play in studios throughout the day. Visitors may participate in performance art workshops, photo booths, and surprise activities. The student organized Open Studio event is in cooperation with the Department of Art and Design and is free to the public. The exhibition runs April 9 – May 12, 2013 in the Tweed Museum of Art at University of Minnesota Duluth.
